General
Is Viable Community an NGO?
Yes, Viable Community is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) dedicated to creating positive environmental and social impact.
What is the mission of this NGO?
Our mission is to preserve and regenerate ecosystems through community collaboration — identifying, developing, and implementing initiatives built on co-ownership, knowledge sharing, and sustainability.
What does Viable Community do?
We manage a global community, organise sustainable projects, and enable innovative funding models for nature restoration and regenerative development.
Why is it important to support Viable Community?
Viable combines information, technology, and community action to deliver efficient solutions to environmental degradation. Unsustainable growth has had devastating consequences for ecosystems — we are building a practical alternative.
What is REgeneration?
Regeneration is the process of restoring, renewing, and replenishing natural systems — proactively enhancing ecosystem health rather than simply reducing harm.
Volunteering
How can I volunteer with Viable?
You can apply through our Volunteer page. We organise in self-managing circles — Strategic, Project Development, IT, Communications, People, Finance, Daily Operations, and Legal. You can contribute remotely or on-site in The Hague.
Do I need specific skills to volunteer?
No. Whether you have specific expertise or are simply passionate about regeneration, there is a place for you. We welcome technical, creative, hands-on, and remote contributors.
How much time do I need to commit?
We ask volunteers to check in at least twice a week and join short weekly coordination meetings. Beyond that, you contribute based on your availability and energy.
The Problem
What measures are you taking to preserve and regenerate nature?
Our projects combine AgriVoltaics, soil regeneration, native species reintroduction, and biodiversity preservation — with a focus on reversing desertification in high-risk areas like Extremadura, Spain.
Why is desertification such an urgent problem?
Approximately 74% of Spain is at risk of desertification. Fertile land is becoming barren, food insecurity is rising, and biodiversity is collapsing. Reversing this requires systemic, community-powered intervention.
What is regenerative agriculture?
Farming practices that restore soil health, support biodiversity, and build ecosystem resilience — improving long-term food security and opening new green revenue streams for farmers.
Ways to Contribute
How can I donate to Viable?
You can make a donation via our Donate page. Viable is an ANBI-registered Dutch foundation, meaning donations may be tax-deductible in the Netherlands.

Yes — we work with befriended organisations, business partners, and academic institutions. Visit our Partner with us page to learn about collaboration options.
What is VIAplace?
VIAplace is the Netherlands’ first community-owned sustainable Web3 marketplace — where members exchange goods, services, skills, and time using VIA, a euro-backed digital token.
